More Super Bowl XLIV Props

As many know, you can practically bet on anything associated with the Super Bowl, starting well before the official kick-off (time of the national anthem, coin toss, etc.) right to the final seconds of the broadcast (who the winning coach will congratulate first, e.g: God, family, players, etc.). It's four hours full of betting options for the sports betting public and online sportsbooks.

Super Bowl Bonuses:

It's also a time when you will find great bonus offers and promotions from books. SPORTSBETTING.com is currently offering a 125% sign-up bonus, plus they are running a 20% daily re-load bonus special this week.

Super Bowl Props:

Betting Super Bowl props is as much a part of the game as finding a good place to watch the action. Even the most seasoned bettors like to get in on the fun but before throwing darts at one of the hundreds available from bookmakers it's a good idea for bettors to make a gameplan.

Which team has the better chance to win straight-up? The online sportsbooks currently have the line ranging from the Colts -5 to the -6. The line was creeping up until news of Dwight Freeney's ankle. Is an injury to a key defensive player enough to change the outcome of this game? Perhaps.

How about the Over/Under? The betting total of 56.5 is already the highest in Super Bowl history. Don't look for that number to come down, as the betting public continues to put their money on the "Over" (SPORTSBETTING.com is reporting 75% of all the action on the Over so far). With Peyton Manning and Drew Brees in the game I'd be shocked to see anything but that "Over" betting trend continue.

Let's have a look at a few props to consider when betting Super Bowl XLIV.

Props courtesy online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com

1. Will either team score three consecutive times? (Extra point and 2 point conversions does not count as a score) Yes (-155); No (+125)

This is a classic and the price on "Yes" is the lowest it's been in years. In the last 10 Super Bowls the results are split down the middle but either one of these offenses could go on a run.

Bettors are hitting the "Yes" at a reasonable 55% clip so far.

2. Will there be a score in final two minutes of first-half? Yes (-300); No (+220)

Manning is famous for his two minute drill, and the Saints obviously can score quickly as well, hence the high price. "Yes" is getting the action, despite the high juice, with 70% betting on their being a late score. Also getting a bit of action is the option of "Will either team scoring in the final two minutes of the second-half ("Yes" is paying +135).

3. How many yards will the shortest touchdown in the game be? Over 1.5 yards (even); Under 1.5 (-130)

Of the past eight Super Bowls there were five games with a TD scored from the 1-yard line and in the other three, three TDs scored from the 2-yard line. The betting public is still betting on "No score from the 1-yard line", with 60% on that side.

Note: Last year in Super Bowl XLIII Pittsburgh and Arizona scored three TDs from the 1-yard line

And if you're having a hard time deciding who will win but think it's going to be a close one, consider betting on the margin of victory rather than just laying or taking the points. Colts to win by less than six points is paying 3.5-to-1 and Saints by less than a TD offers bettors 4-to-1 odds.

Good luck with your Super Bowl picks and props.
